'Take the straight path'
Anyone else find the word 'straight' describing the sexual orientation of a heterosexual bizarre?
Personally I believe it appears to connote that straight is the preferred way to be. A quick search on wikipedia yields results that reiterate this idea.
- 'Going straight' (which refers to a person deciding to no longer engage in criminal activity)
- Straight is also the personal character of displaying honesty or fairness
- Straight, a poker hand containing five cards in sequential order (what? of course poker is relevant to this discussion)
- The state of sobriety
- Abstaining from the use of, or being free from the effects of drugs, especially recreational drugs
- A crack pipe
- Coffee without sugar or cream added to it
Woah! Trippy. Sugar or cream hey? So much symbolism. I suppose then that gay people should start ordering sugar AND cream with their coffee to make a point.
Let's murder 'straight' and come up with a new word.
