....hang a plaque of Andrew Denton on my wall!!!
I really do enjoy his show on ABC and the interviews he conducts. He really does have a wonderful style.
This entry however is not so much about him but rather something he said. Having just read an interview of his where, for a nice change the interviewer became the interviewee, I stumbled upon a sweet little quote that made my day..
and I would like to share it with you.
Why? because I suppose it defies the laws of the Cliche somewhat, in that it takes a phrase we've all come to know and loathe and makes it sound somewhat rather splendid.
Extract here:
'his favourite insight in the world...''One of the people was a transvestite who all his life had felt a need to dress in women's clothing and he said a beautiful thing which has become one of the sayings in our household. Just this pretty little piece of wisdom and that was
'Be yourself, because everybody else is taken'.
(Taken from Vertigo magazine, edition 7, 2007)
Take that, boring old cliche!
