God Save JK Rowling

..Shall be the new motto hailed across the world soon enough when she becomes Queen of the World. I mean she's already richer than the Queen, it was only a matter of time.
I must admit that I say this with great trepidation. As those who know me personally can attest to the fact that I am a gloriously unabashed bookworm to the point where, as a child, I would sit in front of the television hooked by the program of a similar name 'Bookworm' (about a worm that could read books), I may well have received a plaque in the library I was there that often and yet never in my 19 years of life have I been so enthralled, so deeply moved by a series of books, reduced to fits of laughter, cascading tears, and upon turning to the final page and finding a blank page and nothing more, feeling deep pangs of sadness.
It was akin to mourning.
and when I looked up after this long marathon of emotions, I could hardly believe that I was still sitting in my living room.
To be this moved, this affected, speaks volumes about the series.
I was also forced to confront the very history I had with the book, my very first encounter so many years ago.
Before the book had gained momentous popularity, before hollywood, before the merchandise, I watched one girl, rather lonely and often ostracised by the other students, reading the second book in a corner by herself.
Feeling a little bit like the hero, I felt sad for her and went to make conversation.
I asked her what she was reading.
She stated plainly, 'Harry Potter'
I asked her if it was any good.
She shrugged 'I think it's great...but I don't think that counts for much..You should read it though'
I wonder what she's thinking now.
